Rangers swept at Houston

Texas lost all four games in its series at the Astros including Sunday's blowout 15-5 defeat. The Rangers trailed 15-3 through six innings before getting a couple runs back in the ninth. Adrian Sampson took the loss as he surrendered six runs (five earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk over 3 1/3 innings. Elvis Andrus paced the offense as he was 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Asdrubal Cabrera and Logan Forsythe each finished 2-for-4 with a double. Isiah Kiner-Falefa was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Shelby Miller will start tonight as he enters with a 1-2 record, 7.48 ERA and 1.92 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 27 2/3 innings.

Royals sputter against Phillies

After winning the series opener at home against Philadelphia, Kansas City lost the next two games by a combined 13-1 including Sunday afternoon's 6-1 loss in the series finale. Alex Gordon led the Royals offensively as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Billy Hamilton finished 2-for-3. Hunter Dozier and Chris Owings were each 1-for-4. Jakob Junis took the loss as he allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and five walks over 4 1/3 innings. Danny Duffy will start tonight for KC as he comes in with a 1-1 record, 3.06 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Texas

The Rangers are 17-39 in their last 56 road games. Texas is 0-7 in its last seven series openers.

Kansas City

The Royals are 2-5 in their last seven games overall. Kansas City is 6-20 in the last 26 meetings.

Prediction:

The Rangers struggle against left-handed pitching and are sending Miller to the mound tonight, who has been getting lit up by everyone this season. But Texas has also had fantastic success against Kansas City in recent years and the Royals are the kind of team you like to fade as favorites. While this might be a risky bet, let's remember that the Royals have only won 14 of their 41 games this season. I feel like this is a good time to pounce on the dog, especially when Miller looked slightly better his last start and could be on the right track.
