According to oddsmakers, the Yankees are the clear favorite in this game, as they are getting odds of -225 to win. The Orioles are listed with a money line of +205 to win, while the over/under total is listed at 8.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 68 percent going on the Yankees at home. Orioles end losing streak

Baltimore had a four-game losing streak come to an end on Sunday in a 5-1 win at home over the Angels. The Orioles come into today’s game 14-26 overall, 8-11 on the road and 20-18 with the over. Baltimore is sending Andrew Cashner to the mound today. He is 4-1 on the season with a 4.25 ERA.

The Orioles have the worst pitching in the majors right now. Their team ERA of 5.51 ranks dead last in MLB, while their team WHIP of 1.45 ranks 28th. Offensively, Baltimore averages just 3.98 runs per game while the team is hitting .237 at the plate. Dwight Smith Jr. is leading the team with nine doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI. Trey Mancini is adding 13 doubles, seven home runs and 16 RBI.

Yankees a top contender

New York is coming off a series win at Tampa this weekend. The Yankees have won seven of their last 10 games. New York is now 24-16 on the season, 13-9 at home and 22-17 with the over. J.A. Happ gets the start tonight. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.36 ERA.

The Yankees are pretty strong on offense and defense. Pitching-wise, New York has a 3.82 team ERA with a 1.24 WHIP. At the plate, New York is averaging 5.00 runs per game while hitting .253. The Yanks remain without top hitters Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge while catcher Gary Sanchez is questionable to play today due to an injury. Luke Voit is leading the team with 10 home runs and 30 RBI while DJ LeMahieu has 10 doubles with 21 RBI and a .333 average.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 5-2 in Cashner’s last seven starts and 10-43 in their last 53 series openers.

New York

The Yankees are 7-1 in their last eight division games and 36-16 in their last 52 series openers.

Prediction:

These two have met six times already this season and the road team is actually 5-1, but the Yankees are 4-2. Cashner has actually been pretty strong for the Orioles over recent weeks. He has given up two runs or less in three of his last four starts. Happ has two scoreless outing in his last three starts. While Cashner can compete on the mound, I don’t trust his hitters to be able to support him. The Yankees are at home and can put up runs on the Baltimore bullpen if they aren’t able to get to Cashner.

MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -225
