Pirates playing well

Pittsburgh is coming off three-straight wins at St. Louis this weekend and the Pirates have won six of their last eight games. The Pirates are 20-17 on the season, 11-8 on the road and 19-18 with the over. Nick Kingham gets the start for the Pirates this evening. He is 1-0 on the season and has a 5.94 ERA.

The Pirates are solid on the mound, as they have a 4.12 team ERA, while the team WHIP is 1.28. Offensively, Pittsburgh is averaging 3.37 runs per game while hitting .238 as a team. Josh Bell is leading the team with a .319 average, 13 doubles, 10 home runs and 34 RBI. Melky Cabrera is hitting .324 with six doubles and just 10 RBI.

Diamondbacks in a funk

Arizona suffered three straight losses at home to Atlanta this weekend. The Diamondbacks are just 2-6 in their last eight games. Arizona is now 22-19 on the season, 8-10 at home and 21-18 with the over. The D’Backs will have Robbie Ray on the mound tonight. He is 2-1 on the season with a 3.30 ERA.

The Diamondbacks are putting up 5.00 runs per game while hitting .259 as a team. On the mound, Arizona has a 4.31 team ERA with a 1.31 team WHIP. David Peralta is leading the team with a .321 average, 15 doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI. Ketel Marte is adding nine home runs and 28 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Pittsburgh

The Pirates have won in five of their last six road games, but they are 0-4 in their last four games against a left-handed starter.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 12-3 in their last 15 games against a winning team, but just 2-7 in their last nine Monday games.

Prediction:

Arizona has won four meetings with Pittsburgh this season already, all four wins coming in Pittsburgh. They had a 30-7 run advantage in those four games. Ray has been okay on the mound, but he doesn’t get deep into games. Still he has given up just one earned run over his last 11.1 innings. Kingham has just one start, but most of his appearances are in relief. He has given up nine earned runs over his last 10.1 innings. I just don’t like Pittsburgh’s pitching for this game tonight. Arizona can still hit the ball even if Ray struggles. I think the Diamondbacks get back on track tonight.

MLB Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks -165
