Mariners get torched

Seattle suffered another loss on Friday night, getting beaten down by the Red Sox in the series opener, 14-1. Seattle is now 20-21 on the season, 13-10 on the road and 27-12 with the over. Felix Hernandez is on the mound for Seattle today. He is 1-3 on the season with a 5.20 ERA.

Seattle scattered eight hits in the loss, but just couldn’t break open any big inning. The lone run came in the eighth inning when Edwin Encarnacion doubled in Domingo Santana. Santana actually had three hits in the loss. On the mound, Erik Swanson took the loss. He allowed seven runs over 4.2 innings to fall to 1-4 on the season. All four pitchers that took the mound on Friday agave up at least one run for Seattle.

Red Sox staying hot

Boston has now won nine of its last 11 games thanks to Friday’s lopsided victory over Seattle. The Red Sox are now 20-19 on the season, 9-7 at home and 22-16 with the over. Boston is sending Rick Porcello to the mound today. He is just 2-3 on the year with a 5.11 ERA.

The Red Sox pounded out 15 hits in Friday’s win. They scored at least one run in each of their last six plate appearances. Mitch Moreland hit his 11th home run of the season, driving in four for the game. Rafael Devers also drove in four runs while Andrew Benintendi had three hits and scored three runs. Eduardo Rodriguez had plenty of run support and he still pitched seven scoreless innings to improve to 4-2 on the season.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners are 2-9 in their last 11 road games and 3-9 in Hernandez’ last 12 road starts.

Boston

The Red Sox have won 57 of their last 83 home games and Porcello’s last four starts.

Prediction:

After a rough 2018, King Felix isn’t returning to his thrown this year. He is coming off a 7-run effort over five innings in his last start against the Yankees. Porcello doesn’t have a great ERA, but he has dropped it from 8.47 on April 20 to 5.11 currently. Porcello should get himself plenty of run support, as I expect Boston to beat up Felix today. The Mariners are just on a big slide while Boston is really heating up.

MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox -185
