Pujols reaches 2,000 career RBIs
Los Angeles slugger Albert Pujols hit 2,000 career RBIs Thursday in a 13-0 shellacking at Detroit. The Angels led 6-0 through three innings and continued to pour it on the rest of the contest. The solo home run was Pujols' only hit in four at-bats. Kole Calhoun was 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three runs scored. Tommy La Stella went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Shohei Otani finished 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Felix Pena gave up three hits and struck out seven over seven shutout innings to earn the win. Trevor Cahill will start today for the Angels as he comes in with a 1-3 record, 6.95 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 27 strikeouts over 33 2/3 innings.
O's edged in 12 innings
Baltimore fell by a score of 2-1 at home in 12 innings against Boston Wednesday to fall to 13-24 overall and 5-13 at home. Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in the defeat. Joey Rickard went 1-for-3 with a run. Yefry Ramirez suffered the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk over one inning of work. MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 4-0 in their last four games versus the AL East. Los Angeles is 2-5 in the last seven Cahill starts.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 23-54 in their last 77 home games. Baltimore is 1-4 in the last five Straily starts.
Prediction:
Neither starting pitcher has been particularly good this season, but I'm going to ride the Angels offense to stay hot for a second straight game. Cahill has a decent track record of success, while Straily hasn't found himself after joining the Orioles mid-April. Expect Baltimore's season-long struggles to continue as it opens this series with a loss.
