Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Eugenio Suarez homered and doubled twice to lead the Reds to a 3-0 win over the A's on Thursday. Suarez has four homers in six games and 11 overall this season. If he can hit 35 homers this year -- and there's a good chance that he will if he stays healthy -- he'll set a new career high for the fifth straight season.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Tyler Austin belted his first two homers of the 2019 season Thursday in the Giants’ loss to Colorado. Thursday marked the fourth multi-homer game of Austin’s four-year career. Austin drove in a career-high six runs in the losing effort with three coming on a game-tying homer in the sixth. The former Yankee has impressed in limited playing time this year, slashing .333/.415/.583 over 36 at-bats for San Francisco.
MLB Betting Trends
The Reds are just 15-39 in their last 54 road games.
The Giants have lost five of their last seven at home.
I took the Reds last Sunday when Castillo faced the Giants and after his offense staked him with a 4-0 lead in the first inning, Castillo allowed a three-run home run to Buster Posey in the top of the seventh inning in what turned into a loss. While I don’t trust the Reds bullpen, I’m not afraid to go back to Castillo in this spot. The Reds should feast on Dereck Rodriguez, well before San Francisco’s underrated bullpen can hold Cincinnati’s bats in check late. If Castillo pitches deep into the game, then the Reds’ pen won’t have an opportunity to blow the game.
