Braves swept at Dodgers

Atlanta lost 9-4 at Los Angeles Wednesday night for its third straight defeat in the series. Ronald Acuna Jr. paced the Braves offense as he went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer. Josh Donaldson finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Freddie Freeman was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Mike Foltynewicz took the loss as he allowed five earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out two and walking four. Mike Soroka will take the mound tonight for Atlanta as he enters with a 3-1 record, 1.14 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 27 strikeouts over 23 2/3 innings.

D-Backs edge Rays in 13 innings

Arizona secured a 3-2 victory Wednesday at Tampa Bay as Wilmer Flores hit a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 13th inning. David Peralta helped lead the Diamondbacks offense as he was 3-for-5 with a triple. Jarrod Dyson went 0-for-3 but drew three walks and scored two runs. Ketel Marte went 1-for-3 with three walks and an RBI. Flores finished 2-for-6 with the RBI. Archie Bradley earned the win in relief as he allowed one hit with five strikeouts and one walk over three innings. Zack Godley picked up the save as he struck out two in a perfect frame.Luke Weaver will start tonight for Arizona as he comes in with a 3-1 record, 3.29 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 44 strikeout over 38 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Atlanta

The Braves are 0-4 in their last four games versus the NL West. Atlanta is 5-0 in the last five Soroka road starts.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 15-7 in their last 22 games overall. Arizona is 4-1 in its last five series openers.

Prediction:

This should be a fun one as Soroka is beyond his years for a 21-year-old, while Weaver is coming into his own again as a starting pitcher after some rough patches the last couple years. Atlanta is in need of a win after a poor series at LA and with Soroka on the mound, I love their chances here. Weaver still worries me as he doesn't exactly offer a deep arsenal for a starting pitcher. I think the Braves provide enough offense to get the win tonight.
