Rangers roll past Blue Jays
Texas completed its series with a 10-2 home victory Sunday afternoon over Toronto to improve to 16-16 on the season and 12-7 at home. The Rangers led put up three runs each in the second and third innings and led 10-1 through six innings en route to the lopsided win. Asdrubal Cabrera was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs in the winning effort. Shin-Soo Choo ended the contest 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs and an RBI. Rougned Odor finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Kyle Dowdy threw two innings of one-hit relief to pick up the win. Adrian Sampson will start tonight for Texas as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 3.58 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 27 1/3 innings.
Marte hits walk-off 3-run homer
Pittsburgh trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the 13th inning, but put a couple runners on before Starling Marte played the role of hero with a walk-off 3-run home run in a 5-3 home victory Sunday afternoon over Oakland. Marte finished the contest 2-for-5 with a walk, a run and three RBIs. Adam Frazier was 2-for-6 with a double, a run and an RBI. Cody Tucker went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Tyler Lyons earned the win in relief as he gave up two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and three walks over two innings of work. MLB Betting Trends
The Rangers are 17-36 in their last 53 road games. Texas is 2-5 in the last seven Sampson starts.
The Pirates are 4-1 in their last five games overall. Pittsburgh is 7-3 in the last 10 Brault starts.
Pittsburgh has been playing solid baseball and Brault at least has done well in the strikeout category in a limited amount of innings this season. He also has the advantage of being a left-hander against a Texas lineup that is set up to hit righties with more efficiency. Look for the Pirates to touch up Sampson and ride a solid Brault outing to a victory in the opener here.
