The Diamondbacks were held to just two hits in the loss on Monday, scoring a lone run in the ninth inning. They gave up seven runs over the first three innings as Merrill Kelly gave up seven runs over four innings of work on seven hits. He took the loss to fall to 3-3 on the season. Arizona scattered two singles and the lone run was actually scored on an error.

Rays look strong

Tampa returned home from a long road trip on Monday and put up an impressive 12-1 win over the Diamondbacks. The Rays have won three of their last four now. Tampa is now 22-12 on the season, 10-7 at home and 19-14 with the under. The Rays are going with a reliever start today, as Ryne Stanek will step on the mound first. He is 0-1 on the season with a 2.81 ERA.

The Rays got a great outing from Blake Snell, who pitched six innings of 1-hit ball, striking out nine hitters. He is now 3-3 on the season. Tommy Phan had two hits and four RBI in the win while Avisail Garcia had three hits, three RBI and scored three runs. Both hit their fifth home runs of the season in the victory.

Prediction:

The relief starter has worked out pretty well for Tampa in the past and Stanek is pretty used to it. He has started eight of his 13 appearances this year. His last outing wasn’t good, but he had allowed just two earned runs over his previous nine appearances. Tampa has a great bullpen to back him up as well. Arizona has an unknown on the mound today, but I don’t think that is going to bode well against a Tampa team that has some great arms and is hitting the ball well at home.
