Mariners drop fifth straight
Seattle dropped the opener, suffering a 2-1 loss at Cleveland last night for its fifth straight loss. The Mariners are now 18-16 on the season, 11-5 on the road and 22-10 with the over. Seattle sends Mike Leake to the mound today. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.98 ERA.
The Mariners blew a very solid start from Yusei Kikuchi on Friday. He pitched seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts. Anthony Swarzak took the loss, as he gave up the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jay Bruce drove in the lone Seattle run on his 10th home run of the season.
Indians pitch way to win
Cleveland was coming off a 6-game road trip and started its homestand with a 2-1 win over Seattle on Friday. The Indians are now 17-13 on the season, 8-4 at home and 17-12 with the under. Cleveland has Carlos Carrasco is taking the mound today. He is 2-3 on the season with a 5.86 ERA.
Tyler Naquin had a pinch-hit walk-off single in the ninth inning to lift Cleveland to the win on Friday night. Shane Bieber had a great outing, going 7.2 innings and allowing just one run with eight strikeouts on 114 pitches. Brad Hand pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the victory.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 10-3 in their last 13 Saturday games, but they have lost four straight road games.
Cleveland
The Indians are 7-2 in their last nine games against a winning team and 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
Prediction:
Carrasco has been very hot and cold this season, but one of his hot starts was a seven-inning scoreless effort at Seattle back on April 17. Leake has allowed multiple runs in every start and Seattle has lost his last three starts. I think Cleveland at home will be tough to beat and Carrasco has the right game plan to get past this Seattle lineup. Look for the Mariners bats to struggle again today.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -205
