Minnesota Twins Fantasy Spin
Jason Castro homered, doubled and drove in four runs against the Astros on Thursday. The Twins have given the scorching hot Mitch Garver the majority of the starts behind the plate thus far, but Castro is off to a great start himself; he's hitting .229/.372/.543 in just 35 at-bats. Castro has a career .386 slugging percentage, so one shouldn't count on this lasting for long.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Luke Voit belted his ninth homer Wednesday in New York’s 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks. Voit led off the sixth inning by drilling a solo bomb off Merrill Kelly to give New York its first run of the afternoon. He also drew a leadoff walk in the eighth and scored later in the inning on an RBI single by Mike Tauchman. The 28-year-old has feasted over his last nine games, supplying five homers and 11 RBI during that span while lifting his season average from .224 to .277. He leads the injury-plagued Yankees in both homers and RBI (26). Wednesday also extended Voit’s on-base streak to 41 games.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are winless in the last six games that Kyle Gibson has started against the Yankees.
New York
The Yankees are 56-19 in their last 75 games versus the Twins and are 44-13 in their last 57 home games versus Minnesota.
Prediction:
I don’t love laying odds over -150 but the Yankees’ money line is still the best play on the board tonight. They have the advantage in the starting pitching matchup and while the Twins’ bullpen has posted average numbers thus far, the Yankees employ a top-5 pen. Given Minnesota’s previous struggles beating the Yankees in New York, I’ll take the Bombers and lay the heavy juice.
The Pick: New York Yankees -152
