Orioles drop four straight

The Baltimore Orioles are on a 4-game losing streak following a 5-3 loss last night at Chicago. The Orioles are 10-20 on the season, 7-10 on the road and 18-12 with the over. Baltimore is sending Andrew Cashner to the mound today. He is 4-1 on the season with a 4.18 ERA.

Baltimore has had the league’s worst pitching staff this season, as the team ERA is 6.05 while the team WHIP is 1.53. Offensively, the Orioles are putting up 4.17 runs per game while hitting .241 as a squad. Trey Mancini is leading the team with a .355 batting average, six home runs and 14 RBI. Dwight Smith Jr. is adding five home runs and 19 RBI. Mancini is dealing with a finger injury, but he is expected to play today.

White Sox heating up

Chicago is riding a 3-game win streak right now following the win over the Orioles. All three have been at home. The White Sox are now 12-14 on the season, 6-6 at home and 15-11 with the over. Chicago has Ivan Nova getting the start tonight. Nova is 0-3 on the season with a 8.42 ERA.

The White Sox have a similar makeup to Baltimore. Their pitching staff has struggled this year, posting a 5.38 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP as a staff. Offensively, Chicago is putting up 5.04 runs per game and the team is hitting .263 at the plate. Jose Abreu is leading the team with five home runs and 24 RBI while Yoan Moncada is hitting .314 with six home runs and 20 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 16-40 in their last 56 games following a loss and 10-41 in their last 51 road games against a team with a losing record.

Chicago

The White Sox are 5-1 in their last six home games, but they have lost Nova’s last five starts.

Prediction:

Nova has been a disaster this year and he has given up 15 runs over his last two outings, including nine in four innings against Baltimore. Cashner pitched very well in that same game, allowing just one run over seven innings. I think the Orioles can get to Nova again while Cashner should be able to get Baltimore in the mix as long as he avoids the big bats. I just can’t trust Nova on the mound to place a wager on the Sox.

MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles +150
