Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Elvis Andrus went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and three runs scored to lead the Rangers to a 15-1 blowout win over the Mariners on Saturday. Andrus launched a majestic 440-foot three-run blast to left-center field off Mariners starter Mike Leake to put the Rangers on the board in the opening frame. He also doubled in the seventh and singled in the ninth to cap off a three-hit performance. The 30-year-old veteran shortstop has experienced a renaissance in the power department this season. He’s already gone deep four times in just 25 games after leaving the yard only six times in 97 games last season. If he can sustain this early-season power surge, he has a chance to eclipse the 20-homer plateau for the second time in three years
Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
Domingo Santana clubbed a solo homer in the Mariners' lopsided loss to the Rangers on Saturday. Santana took Rangers starter Mike Minor deep in the opening frame, but that was just about it for the Mariners offense in this one, as Minor and reliever Ariel Jurado racked up 16 strikeouts and combined on a three-hitter. The 26-year-old outfielder is still striking out at a healthy clip, but also he's flashed plenty of power and speed so far this season.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are still just 1-5 in their last six games overall, despite their 15-1 win last night.
Seattle
The Mariners are 2-7 in their last nine home games.
Prediction:
It’s tempting to take the Rangers as an underdog, but I keep coming back to the over. Lynn struggles against left-handers, which mean Daniel Vogelbach, Jay Bruce and Omar Narvaez could do some damage. Swanson, meanwhile, allowed five runs (four earned) and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 6-3 loss at San Diego in his last start. I see a rebound performance today from Seattle’s offense and Texas’ lineup staying hot for another day.
The Pick: Rangers/Mariners OVER 9
