Tampa Bay Rays Fantasy Spin
Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 with two runs scored against the Royals on Wednesday. Both of his hits were singles. Joey Wendle suffered a fractured right wrist when he was hit by a pitch on Wednesday, so there shouldn’t be any question about Lowe’s playing time moving forward. Not that there should be, anyway. Lowe is batting .291 with six homers and a .929 OPS over 24 games.
Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs in Thursday's win over the Tigers. He cracked a double to left that plated Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland with the go-ahead runs in the third inning. Devers has gotten off to a rather quiet start this year but it's only a matter of time before he starts showing some thump. The 22-year-old third baseman is slashing .276/.370/.345 with zero homers and seven RBI through 26 games.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa Bay
The over is 4-1 in the Rays’ last five road games and is 4-1 in their last five divisional games as well.
Boston
The over is 5-2 in the Red Sox’ last seven games overall and is 15-6-2 in their last 23 home games.
Prediction:
As of this writing, Boston has yet to name a starter but Mike Shawaryn is projected to toe the rubber for the Red Sox tonight. If it is Shawaryn, the Red Sox’ money line odds are likely to drop. That said, it won’t change my pick. The Rays are 44-20 in their last 64 games overall and despite struggling last week against the Red Sox at home, Morton has looked sharp in the early going and I’ll back him and Tampa at any price against an unproven Boston starter.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays +134
