Houston Astros Fantasy Spin

George Springer went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Astros’ loss to the Rangers on Saturday. Springer walloped a tape-measure, 433-foot blast -- his sixth round-tripper of the season -- off Rangers reliever Jesse Chavez in the seventh inning. Despite the loss, the Astros have been on an impressive run, winning 11 of their last 13 contests, dating back to April 5. The 29-year-old outfielder has served as the primary spark-plug atop the Houston lineup, slashing a robust .278/.370/.557 with 14 runs scored, six homers, 17 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 92 plate appearances.

Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin

Joey Gallo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a pair of runs scored to lead the Rangers to a 9-4 win over the Astros on Saturday. Gallo launched a towering, 433-foot blast -- his eighth round-tripper of the season -- off Astros’ starter Gerrit Cole in the third inning. He also doubled and scored a run in the fifth to record his fifth multi-hit effort of the season. He’s gone deep in four of his last five games and looks completely locked-in at the plate right now. The 25-year-old slugger has always been a liability in the batting average department because of his propensity to strike out at an alarming rate, in tandem with the impact of targeted defensive shifts, which have depressed his value in traditional fantasy formats. However, an uptick in line drives, juxtaposed by his elite average exit velocity, should catalyze massive batting average gains and his potential rise into an upper-echelon, four-category superstar. He’s hitting .262/.365/.705 with 16 runs scored, eight homers and 17 RBI in 72 plate appearances this season.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 11-5 in Collin McHugh’s last 16 road starts.

Texas

The Rangers have dropped 30 of their last 44 games played on Sunday.

Prediction:

Shelby Miller has been a disaster in the early going and he might not be long for Texas’ starting rotation. This is a horrible matchup for Miller, as the Astros now own a .348 team wOBA, which is fourth in the majors. In 10 innings pitched, Miller has walked 11 and has struck out only three. A blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time, but with the way the ball is flying all over the yard this weekend in Arlington, there’s no reason to take anything else but the over today.

The Pick: Astros/Rangers OVER 11
