Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Back in the lineup after a three-day break, Jung Ho Kang homered in the Pirates' extra-innings win over the Tigers on Tuesday. Kang's two-run blast in the fourth inning put the Pirates up 3-0 and it looked like it was going to hold up before the Tigers knotted things up in the ninth. Pittsburgh then re-took the lead for good with Starling Marte's two-run blast in the 10th. Kang isn't guaranteed anything as far as playing time goes, but the power remains intriguing enough to stick with him in deep leagues.
Detroit Tigers Fantasy Spin
Niko Goodrum (illness) finished 1-for-4 with a run scored in his return Tuesday versus the Pirates. Goodrum missed a handful of games while battling flu-like symptoms. The versatile 27-year-old boasts an .896 OPS with one home run and one stolen base through 54 plate appearances this season with Detroit.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates have beaten the Tigers five straight times at Comerica Park.
Detroit
The Tigers are just 1-7 in their last eight games versus the Pirates overall.
Prediction:
The Tigers are struggling but Spencer Turnbull has been tough on righties and is due for some positive regression. The Pirates, meanwhile, will throw Trevor Williams against a Tigers offense that isn’t tearing the cover off the ball. While the over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams, the under is 11-5 in Detroit’s last 16 games overall and is 19-9 in Pittsburgh’s last 28 road games.
The Pick: Pirates/Tigers UNDER 8.5
