San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled in a run in the top of the seventh to help the Padres edge the Diamondbacks 2-1 on Friday. Tatis also walked in the contest. His third double of the season gave him his eighth RBI. He's batting an unremarkable .250, but with six extra-base hits, his slugging percentage is a cool .500.
Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
Adam Jones went 0-for-4 and struck out three times Friday against the Padres. Jones still has a 1.000 OPS, but even though he's collected four homers and four doubles, his exit velocity stats are pretty awful. He could maintain some mixed-league value as someone who plays every day and hits in the top half of a decent lineup, but anyone expecting his star turn to continue is likely to be disappointed.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 1-4 in Strahm’s last five road starts and are winless in his last four outings overall.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are just 2-8 in their last 10 games played on Saturday.
Prediction:
Last night showed that these two offenses are streaky. That said, the Diamondbacks have remained productive despite the loss of Paul Goldschmidt. Matt Strahm worked mostly out of the bullpen last year and has strikeout potential for San Diego. That said, he’s allowed seven runs (six earned) over 7 2/3 innings over his first two starts. On the other side of the pitching equation is Merrill Kelly, who allowed three runs across six innings against the Padres already this year. Not that he pitched poorly, but if he allows another three runs tonight, bettors should be able to cash the over presuming Arizona’s offense gets to Strahm.
