Houston Astros Fantasy Spin

Yuli Gurriel went 3-for-5 and hit a grand slam Friday in the Astros' 10-6 win over the Mariners. The Astros got eight of their runs on slams, as Jose Altuve also hit one in the sixth. Gurriel delivered his in the eighth off new callup R.J. Alaniz in his major league debut. It was Gurriel's first homer of this year and fourth career grand slam, which is quite a few for a guy with just 35 homers to his credit.

Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin

Tom Murphy homered in the bottom of the ninth Friday to extend the Mariners' streak of consecutive games with a homer to start a season to 16. They had already broken the record of 14 straight games. Murphy's homer tonight proved meaningless, as it came with the Mariners down 10-5 in the ninth. Still, he's off to a good start as Omar Navarez's backup, as he's 4-for-13 with three walks thus far.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 19-4 in Justin Verlander’s last 23 road starts and are 9-2 in his last 11 outings overall.

Seattle

The Mariners have lost nine of Felix Hernandez’s last 12 starts and are 2-5 in his last seven outings at home.

Prediction:

Facing Verlander will be no easy task but the Mariners lead the league in runs scored by a wide margin. They’re also first in both home runs at 37, as well as stolen bases at 19. Even if we don’t get a ton of runs out of Seattle, the over is 7-3 in Hernandez’s last 10 starts and is 7-3-1 in his last 11 home outings when facing an opponent with a winning record. Houston’s bats should come alive again tonight in Seattle and even if the Astros have to do most of the heavy lifting tonight, so be it.

The Pick: Astros/Mariners OVER 8.5
