Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Khris Davis hit two homers in a second straight game Thursday as the A's topped the Orioles 8-5. Davis was in a week-long slump before arriving in Baltimore and upping his season homer total from five to nine. If only he could face the Orioles pitching staff every game, 100 homers might well be in reach.
Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Hunter Pence hit his first homer Wednesday in the Rangers' 5-2 defeat of the Diamondbacks. Pence hit just four homers in 235 at-bats for the Giants last year, but he impressed this spring and he's off to a 7-for-20 start during the regular season. There's little chance that he becomes a mixed-league guy again, but it's a nice surprise that he has something left in the tank.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are 4-0 in their last four road games versus the Rangers and are 21-8 in their last 29 games versus Texas overall.
Texas
The Rangers have dropped four of their last five games overall and are 4-10 in their last 14 divisional matchups.
Prediction:
To answer the question from the intro: No, it’s not too risky to take the over tonight in Arlington. The ball tends to fly out of the ballpark in Texas and while we’re paying a premium with the number sitting at 10.5, I still like the over. The A’s see a park upgrade and with Davis homering twice in two straight games (as well as Matt Chapman and others also swinging hot bats), Oakland could be a nightmare for Texas starter Drew Smyly. The over is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams and is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings in Arlington.
The Pick: A’s/Rangers OVER 10.5
