Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and four RBI in the Mariners’ lopsided win over the White Sox on Sunday. Encarnacion kicked off the scoring with an RBI ground out in the first inning. He also delivered an RBI single in the third and blasted a two-run homer to left-center field in the fourth. The 36-year-old veteran first baseman is hitting .300/.447/.500 with eight runs scored and five RBI through eight games. Despite his advanced age, Encarnacion remains a consistent four-category fantasy contributor.
Kansas City Royals Fantasy Spin
Whit Merrifield went 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Tigers. Merrifield had the lone extra-base hit on the afternoon for the Royals. The double was his second of the season, the steal his third. The outfielder has been seeing the ball well in the early going, having now picked up at least one hit in all eight games in which he has played. Merrifield is slashing .324/.361/.529 with one home run, four RBI and eight runs scored in 34 at-bats thus far.
MLB Betting Trends
The Mariners are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games versus the Royals.
The Royals have beaten the Mariners in five of their last seven home games when Felix Hernandez starts for Seattle.
The Mariners have one of the hottest offenses in baseball and despite playing Monday night in a pitcher’s park, I do expect Seattle to stop scoring runs in bunches. The over is 4-1 in the previous five meetings between these two teams at Kauffman Stadium and is a perfect 4-0 in the Royals’ last four home games. On the other side, the over has cashed in seven of the Mariners’ last nine games overall and is 5-2 in Hernandez’s last seven road starts.
The Pick: Mariners/Royals over 9.5
