Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin

Edwin Encarnacion is day-to-day with a sore left hand. That's the reason he was scratched from the Mariners' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Angels, though it's being called a precautionary measure and he should be fine to play Thursday after Wednesday's scheduled team off day. He might even be available off the bench Tuesday. Daniel Vogelbach is at DH and batting eighth versus right-hander Trevor Cahill.

Chicago White Sox Fantasy Spin

Yoan Moncada hammered his second long ball of the year Wednesday in Chicago’s victory over Cleveland. Already leading 6-1 in the eighth, Moncada added insult to injury by sending Neil Ramirez’s offering into the seats for a two-run jack. The 438-foot drive was Moncada’s second hit of the afternoon, following a fourth-inning double off Indians ace Corey Kluber. It was an eventful day for the 23-year-old, who also walked twice and committed a throwing error, his first of the season. The former top prospect has gotten off to a sizzling start, erupting for nine hits including five for extra bases in his first 20 at-bats. That computes to an explosive .450 batting average. Moncada led the majors with 217 strikeouts last season, but could be headed for a breakout year in 2019.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners have won 20 of their last 26 games against American League Central opponents.

Chicago

The White Sox are just 8-24 in their last 32 home games versus a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

The Mariners are off to a surprising 7-1 start but as previously mentioned, they have struggled to win in Chicago. In their last 63 road games versus the White Sox, the M’s are just 19-44. This Chicago lineup doesn’t have much thump but Moncada is off to a blistering start, hitting .450 with two home runs and six RBIs. He went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three runs scored in the White Sox’ 8-3 victory over Cleveland on Wednesday. Chicago hitters haven’t seen Yusei Kikuchi but Seattle is expected to be cautious with its new starter so if the White Sox can get through the first five or six innings, I expect them to eventually wear down the M’s pen.

The Pick: Chicago White Sox +110
