San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin

Derek Holland allowed two runs on six hits over four innings Saturday in a Cactus League start against the Diamondbacks. Holland was a bit wild and struggled with his control, issuing three walks, while recording four strikeouts. The 32-year-old veteran southpaw was surprisingly effective, posting a 2.87 ERA over his final 25 appearances (19 starts), in his San Francisco debut last year. He’s surrendered nine runs on 20 hits with 16 strikeouts and four walk over 16 innings of work this spring. He's firmly entrenched in the Giants' rotation and offers some mixed league appeal as a streaming option at home in Oracle Park this year.

San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin

Joey Lucchesi allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in a Cactus League start against the Angels on Saturday. Lucchesi struck out three batters and issued three walks. A two-run homer by Angels slugger Justin Bour accounted for all of the damage against him in this one. The 25-year-old southpaw has given up five runs on 11 hits with a 13/4 K/BB ratio across 14 innings this spring. While he hasn't officially been announced yet, he's theoretically lined up to start for the Padres on Opening Day against the Giants at PETCO Park on Thursday.

MLB Betting Trends

San Francisco

The Giants are 1-4 in Holland’s last five starts dating back to last season.

San Diego

The Padres are 1-11 in Lucchesis’ last 12 starts versus a National League West opponent.

Prediction:

Even though you’ll see the names Evan Longoria, Buster Posey and Brandon Belt written in the Giants’ lineup, don’t lose focus of the fact that this is one of the worst offenses in baseball. San Francisco picked up Michael Reed and Connor Joe like an hour ago and both are starting for the Giants in their opening series of the season. They’re horrendous. The Padres are overvalued tonight on the money line but the under will be an excellent play most nights that the Giants are involved.

The Pick: Giants/Padres under 7.5
