FedEx Cup Playoffs Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The 2014 PGA Tour season is winding down, as the FedEx Cup playoffs are set to begin this week. Here is a look at the odds to win this year’s title.
The FedEx Cup is a four-event playoff over the next four PGA events. The top 125 players in the point standings begin, playing in this week’s Barclays. After the event, the top 100 remaining play in the next event. The field cuts to 70 after that and then the top 30 play in the final event, the Tour Championship. The points leader after all four events are completed wins the FedEx Cup.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite to win this event, as he has 5/2 odds. Matt Kuchar comes in with 10/1 odds while six others have 15/1 odds.
McIlroy is the top-ranked golfer in the world right now after winning back-to-back major championships. He won two FedEx Cup events in 2012 but failed to win the overall playoff. He currently is the points leader by just over 100 points on the field despite playing in only 13 FedEx Cup events this year.
Kuchar is fourth in the current point standings, over 600 points behind McIlroy. Kuchar has won one FedEx Cup playoff event in his career. He is currently seventh in the world rankings and coming off back-to-back top-15 finishes in his last two events. He has one win in 2014.
The 2014 FedEx Cup begins this week with the Barclays and will run until the conclusion of the Tour Championship on Sept. 14. For a look at everyone’s odds to win this playoff, see below.
