SAN FRANCISCO, CA (TheSpread) – A European has claimed the U.S. Open title the last two years. Here is a look at the odds to be the top European in this year’s tournament.

View Current PGA Golf Betting Odds

According to oddsmakers, three European golfers all have 7/2 odds to be the top finisher of their continent. Those golfers are Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.

McIlroy is the defending U.S. Open champion and he is second in the world rankings. He has been going through somewhat of a struggle as of late, as he has missed the cut in three of his last four tournaments. Last year’s U.S. Open was McIlroy’s first major championship. He has placed in the top 10 of the U.S. Open in two of his three appearances.

Donald is No. 1 in the world rankings. Donald has placed 12th or better in his last four golf tournaments. He has never won a major championship and never finished in the top 10 of a U.S. Open but he did place 12th back at the 2006 U.S. Open. Donald has placed outside the top 40 in his last five U.S. Opens.

Westwood is third in the world rankings and coming off a win on the European Tour last week. It was his second win in his last five events. Westwood has never won a major championship in his career, but has performed well in the U.S. Open as of late. He has finished third in two of the last four and has placed in the top 11 in seven of the last eight major championships overall.

The U.S. Open begins on Thursday, June 14 and will run through Sunday, June 17 from the Olympic Club-Lake Course in San Francisco, California. For complete odds on which American will have the best finish, see below.
