Matsuyama is sixth in the world rankings and he has a runner-up finish this year along with five wins in 2016. He missed the cut in this tournament last year.
Woods is a seven-time winner of this tournament, last claiming victory in 2013. He comes into this event 663rd in the world rankings due to inactivity. This is just his second event in the last two years. He placed 15th in the Hero World Challenge late in 2016.
