According to the latest oddsmakers, Denver is the slight favorite at home, as the Nuggets are getting odds of -2 points against the Lakers. Lakers fall to Mavs

Los Angeles had its long win streak come to an end on Sunday night in a 114-100 loss at home to the surging Dallas Mavericks. The loss dropped Los Angeles to 17-3 on the season. The Lakers are 8-1 on the road, 11-9 against the spread and 12-8 with the under.

The Lakers have been strong on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 104 points per game while limiting opponents to 43.5 percent shooting from the field and 33.6 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Los Angeles is putting up 112.2 points per game while shooting 48.2 percent as a team. Anthony Davis is dealing with a shoulder injury, but is expected to play tonight. He is averaging 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. LeBron James is adding 25.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 10.9 assists per contest.

Nuggets end win streak

Denver had its six-game win streak come to an end on Saturday night in a 100-97 loss at Sacramento. The loss moves Denver to 13-4 on the year, 8-2 at home, 8-8-1 against the spread and 12-5 with the under.

The Nuggets have the league’s top defense right now, allowing just 101.8 points per game. They also are holding opponents to just 42.8 percent shooting overall and 30.9 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Denver is putting up 106.7 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the field. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 15.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Jamal Murray is adding 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Lakers are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven conference games, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a loss.

The Nuggets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games.

These two haven’t met this season, but Denver has covered and won in its last two against the Lakers. The Lakers suffered their first loss in a while against Dallas, as they had been beating up on some of the worst teams in the league over recent weeks. That has to be a concern, as they haven’t played may teams that will push them as of late. Denver is certainly a team that will push them. The Nuggets have far superior depth compared to Los Angeles. Denver has grinded out wins over the likes of Boston and Houston in recent weeks and I think they will be up to make a statement against the Lakers. I think the depth and defense will be too much for the Lakers.

NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -2
