Denver Nuggets DFS Spin
Michael Porter Jr. hit just 2-of-9 shots for five points, six rebounds and a steal in 23 minutes of Thursday's ugly Game 1 loss to the Clippers. He missed all six of his 3-point attempts, didn't do anything until the game was completely out of hand, and is averaging just 8.0 points over his last six playoff games. He was a bubble darling when the regular season concluded but the Nuggets have gone back to playing Paul Millsap and Jerami Grant big minutes. And until that changes, MPJ doesn't look like a very good DFS option right now. However, he's likely going to have a breakout season next year and will be a popular mid-round fantasy pick in all formats.
Los Angeles Clippers DFS Spin
Kawhi Leonard hit 12-of-16 shots, a 3-pointer and 4-of-4 free throws for 29 points, two rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in 32 minutes as the Clippers destroyed the Nuggets in a 120-97 blowout win in Game 1 on Thursday. Leonard got every shot he wanted and didn't even appear to break a sweat. And he would have done a lot more had the Clippers not been up by 29 as the fourth quarter approached. Paul George hit 6-of-13 shots with two 3-pointers for 19 points, Marcus Morris added 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in a start, and Montrezl Harrell came on late for 15 points, three rebounds, a steal and a block in just 19 minutes of action. The Clippers completely dominated this game after the first quarter and the Nuggets will have to go back to the drawing board and come up with a better game plan for Game 2.
Nuggets vs. Clippers Game 2 Betting Prediction
I backed the Nuggets in Game 1 and paid for it but I’m actually going back to the well tonight catching nine points. The Nuggets are 15-7-2 against the spread in their last 24 games coming off a loss, are 9-4 against the number in their last 13 conference semifinals games and are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games overall despite losing Game 1. The Nuggets are inexperienced but they’re not without talent and I could see the Clippers taking their foot off the pedal following a rather easy Game 1 victory.
