Cardinals rally to win in 10

Yadier Molina drove in the game-tying run with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning Monday at home versus Atlanta in Game 4 of the NLDS, then proceeded to bring home the game-winning run in the 10th on a sacrifice fly to give St. Louis a 5-4 victory and even the series at 2-2. Molina ended the game 1-for-4 with the two RBIs. Paul Goldschmidt led the Cardinals offense as he went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk and two runs scored. Marcell Ozuna was 2-for-5 with two solo home runs. Tommy Edman ended the game 2-for-3 with a double plus a walk. Miles Mikolas threw a perfect inning of relief with no strikeouts to pick up the win. Jack Flaherty gets the start for St. Louis today after allowing three earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in Game 2.

Braves falter late

Atlanta lost 5-4 in 10 innings Monday in Game 4 of the NLDS at St. Louis. The Braves allowed the tying run in the eighth inning and the winning run in the 10th. Ronald Acuna Jr. ended the game 4-for-5 with a double and a triple to help lead Atlanta offensively. Ozzie Albies finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Dansby Swanson was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Julio Teheran took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts and one walk over two-thirds of an inning. Mike Foltynewicz draws the start after throwing seven shutout innings to get the win in Game 2's 3-0 victory as he gave up three hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

MLB Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 3-8 in their last 11 playoff games. St. Louis is 2-7 in the last nine Flaherty starts versus the NL East.

Atlanta

The Braves are 6-0 in the last six Foltynewicz home starts. Atlanta is 2-5 in its last seven games overall.

Prediction:

This was a fantastic Game 2 pitching matchup as Flaherty settled down after a rocky first inning and was excellent until Adam Duvall touched him up for a two-run home run in the seventh inning. But Foltynewicz was even better as he continued his late-season surge by completely baffling the Cardinals. With Flaherty the more consistent pitcher during the second half of the season, I'm going to bank on him perhaps even better his Game 2 start while Foltynewicz is unable to duplicate his. St. Louis grinds out wins and I see this as fitting that bill as it scratches out enough runs and rides Flaherty plus the bullpen the rest of the way.
