Twins hold off Red Sox

Minnesota claimed a 6-5 victory Tuesday night at Boston to improve to 86-52 overall and 47-23 on the road. Miguel Sano helped lead the Twins offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Nelson Cruz was 1-for-4 with a solo homer plus a walk. Luis Arraez ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Lewis Thorpe picked up the win in relief as he allowed three earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 3 1/3 innings. Taylor Rogers recorded the save as he gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over 1 1/3 innings pitched. Jose Berrios gets the start today for Minnesota as he enters with an 11-7 record, 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP plus 163 strikeouts over 169 innings of work.

Red Sox comeback falls short

Boston trimmed a 6-0 deficit down to 6-5 but was unable to find the equalizer Tuesday night at home in a 6-5 loss to Minnesota. Rafael Devers paced the Red Sox offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Andrew Benintendi went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a double. Jackie Bradley Jr. ended the game 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Rick Porcello took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks over four innings. Eduardo Rodriguez gets the start tonight for Boston as he comes in with a 16-5 record, 3.97 ERA and 1.36 WHIP plus 160 strikeouts over 165 2/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are 4-0 in the last four Berrios road starts. Minnesota is 2-5 in its last seven Wednesday games.

Boston

The Red Sox are 7-3 in its last 10 home games versus the Twins. Boston is 41-11 in the last 52 Rodriguez starts.

Prediction:

Boston seems to always rise to the occasion when Rodriguez is on the mound, while he usually puts in a decent enough start to get the job done. While the Twins have been red-hot, Berrios has taken a step back over the last month. I think this is a good spot for the Red Sox to even the series at a game apiece.
