Dubon hits first MLB homer

San Francisco fell by a score of 3-1 Monday afternoon at St. Louis to drop to 66-71 overall and 36-33 on the road. Mauricio Dubon led the Giants offense as he was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, the first of his big league career, plus a double. Mike Yastrzemski finished 1-for-3, while Evan Longoria and Buster Posey each went 1-for-4. Tyler Beede took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Dereck Rodriguez gets the start today as he enters with a 5.7 record, 5.49 ERA and 1.44 WHIP plus 51 strikeouts over 80 1/3 innings.

Wainwright throws seven shutout frames

Adam Wainwright threw seven shutout innings Monday afternoon to guide host St. Louis to a 3-1 win over San Francisco. Wainwright allowed four hits with one strikeout and no walks in the efficient effort. Paul Goldschmidt helped pace the Cardinals offense as he went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Kolton Wong ended the game 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI. Paul DeJong was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. MLB Betting Trends

San Francisco

The Giants are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. San Francisco is 1-6 in its last seven games overall.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 5-0 in their last five games versus the NL West. St. Louis is 19-7 in its last 26 games overall.

Prediction:

Flaherty has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since the All-Star Break and he should receive plenty of run support as Rodriguez doesn't fool many people. With Flaherty going against an underwhelming lineup, I think this one could be a rout. I'm taking the hosts on the runline.
