Royals hammered in series finale

Kansas City dropped an 11-5 decision Sunday afternoon at home against the Mets to drop to 44-80 overall and 24-39 at home. Brett Phillips helped pace the Royals offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Nicky Lopez went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Hunter Dozier ended the game 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Kevin McCarthy took the loss in relief as he surrendered four earned runs on four hits with no strikeouts or walks over one-third of an inning. Jorge Lopez draws the start tonight for KC as he enters with a 1-7 record, 6.51 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 85 2/3 innings.

O's drop seventh straight

Baltimore lost by a score of 13-7 Sunday afternoon at Boston for its seventh straight defeat to drop to 39-85 overall and 21-42 on the road. Renato Nunez led the Orioles offense as he went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Jonathan Villar ended the game 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Paul Fry took the loss in relief as he surrendered three earned runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking one. John Means gets the start tonight as he comes in with an 8-8 record, 3.76 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 105 1/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are 35-79 in their last 114 road games. Kansas City is 15-36 in its last 51 Monday games.

Baltimore

The Orioles are 90-219 in their last 309 games overall. Baltimore is 8-25 in its last 33 Monday games.

Prediction:

Baltimore has stunk lately, but it's not like Kansas City is doing much better. This seems like a prime opportunity for the Orioles to snap their skid as they have the definite starting pitching advantage, is at home and is desperate to get back on the winning side of things after a week-plus of losing. So I'm going to put my money on the hosts as Lopez doesn't move the needle enough for me to want to take a chance on the Royals.
