White Sox double up Phillies
Chicago earned a 10-5 victory Sunday afternoon at Philadelphia to improve to 48-61 overall and 21-33 on the road. Leury Garcia helped lead the White Sox offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a grand slam. Tim Anderson went 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Eloy Jimenez was 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Reynaldo Lopez picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. Lucas Giolito draws the start tonight as he enters with an 11-5 record, 3.39 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 150 strikeouts over 124 2/3 innings.
Tigers swept at Rangers
Detroit lost its third straight game at Texas Sunday afternoon by a count of 9-4 to drop to 32-75 overall and 19-39 on the road. Niko Goodrum paced the Tigers offense as he went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Miguel Cabrera finished 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Brandon Dixon was 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Jose Cisnero suffered the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs on no hits with no strikeouts and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Spencer Turnbull gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 3-9 record, 3.65 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 88 strikeouts over 98 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-8 in their last nine versus the AL Central. Chicago is 1-4 in the last five Giolito starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 10-43 in their last 53 games. Detroit is 1-7 in its last eight Monday games.
Prediction:
Offense hasn't really been the Tigers' issue lately, but I dont like their chances here against a pitcher in Giolito who was an All-Star and is coming off an outstanding start. Turnbull has been fairly reliable this season, but does allow a lot of baserunners and he probably won't get bailed out from his mistakes today. I think this line is too tight and I'm siding with the White Sox here.
