Scherzer hits 200 strikeouts again

Nationals ace Max Scherzer struck out 11 batters Friday night in a 9-1 victory at Miami and in the process hit 200 strikeouts for the seventh straight season. He gave up one earned run on three hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk over eight dominant innings. Trea Turner went 2-for-6 and scored two runs to help pace the Washington offense. Adam Eaton was 1-for-4 with a double and two walks plus a run. Bryce Harper was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIS. Matt Adams finished 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Juan Soto was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs. Daniel Murphy went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Prado has two-hit night

Martin Prado went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to pace the offense for the Marlins on Saturrday night. J.T. Realmuto had the only other hit for Miami. Pablo Lopez suffered the loss as he gave up four earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Gio Gonzalez (6-7, 3.94 ERA) starts today for the Nats, while Miami counters with Trevor Richards (3-5, 4.41).

MLB Betting Trends

The under is 10-4 in the last 14 Nationals road games. Washington is 6-14 in its last 20 road games.

The Marlins are 7-22 in the last 20 meetings. The under is 18-7-2 in the last 27 meetings in Miami.

Gonzalez took ownership for his poor pitching after his last start and he is the type of veteran who is capable of turning it all around as soon as you count him out. Richards is hittable and while he has a promising future, he isn't ready to get out a strong lineup hitting with confidence such as Washington's just yet. Bet on Gonzalez to return to his early-season form tonight and send the Nationals to another win.
