Twins take opener

Minnesota has been in somewhat of a slump as of late, but the Twins picked up a 10-3 road win on Thursday night over the White Sox. The Twins are 62-40 on the season, 31-19 on the road and 51-45 with the over. Michael Pineda is getting the start for Minnesota tonight. He is 6-5 on the season with a 4.41 ERA.

The Twins jumped out early on the White Sox, scoring all 10 runs over the first six innings of play. They were able to overcome four errors in the field as well to still get the win. Nelson Cruz led the way with three home runs and five RBI. He now has 25 home runs on the year. Max Kepler hit his 26th home run and finished with two RBI and two runs while Miguel Sano added a two-run home run. Jose Berrios threw seven innings and struck out eight while giving up just two earned runs. He improved to 9-5 with the win.

White Sox drop another

Chicago is on a three-game losing streak following Thursday’s loss to the Twins. Chicago is 45-55 overall, 26-23 at home and 49-48 with the under. Dylan Cease is taking the mound for the White Sox this evening. He is 1-2 on the season with a 6.19 ERA.

Lucas Giolito had a very surprising outing, giving up seven runs over five innings with seven strikeouts. He fell to 11-5 on the year with the loss. At the plate, the Sox put up three runs on seven hits. Yoan Moncada had a home run and a RBI to lead the way while Adam Engel was the lone player with two hits.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are 9-2 in their last 11 Friday games and 8-3 in their last 11 Games 2’s of a series.

Chicago

The White Sox are 1-10 in their last 11 games on grass and just 2-5 in their last seven home games.

Prediction:

Pineda doesn’t have a great ERA, but he has dropped it by a whole run over the last couple of months through relatively consistent performances. He gets about 5-6 innings in while giving up 1-3 runs. Cease has just three starts this year and has allowed 13 runs over 16 innings of work. Those were against three relatively weak lineups. Like Giolito on Thursday, I think Cease is going to give up a lot of power shots tonight as the Twins roll to another win.

MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -175
