Indians heating up

Cleveland is playing very well right now, winning eight of their last 10 after earning a series victory at Toronto this week. The Indians are 59-42 on the season, 27-21 on the road and 55-43 with the under. Adam Plutko gets the start for the Tribe tonight. He is 3-2 on the season with a 4.81 ERA.

The Indians haven’t been great at the plate this season, but are warming up. They are averaging 4.56 runs per game while batting .247 as a team. However, on the mound, Cleveland is one of the best in the majors. The Tribe have a 3.79 team ERA with a 1.19 team WHIP. Carlos Santana is leading the team with 21 doubles, 21 home runs and 54 RBI. Jose Ramirez is adding 21 doubles, 10 home runs, 47 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

Royals on a hot streak

Kansas City is playing some of its best baseball right now, winning seven of its last nine games after taking two in Atlanta this week. KC is 39-64 on the season, 22-29 at home and 50-47 with the over. The Royals have Mike Montgomery taking the mound today. He is 0-1 on the season with a 22.50 ERA.

The Royals are posting a 4.94 team ERA on the mound this year with a 1.45 team WHIP. At the plate, KC is averaging 4.35 runs per game while hitting .248 as a squad. The Royals lead the league in stolen bases with 91, but Adalberto Mondesi is out with an injury and he leads the team with 31 stolen bases. Jorge Soler is leading KC at the plate with 20 doubles, 27 home runs and 71 RBI. Alex Gordon is adding 26 doubles, 11 home runs and 60 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Cleveland

The Indians are 8-1 in their last nine road games and 5-1 in their last six series openers.

Kansas City

The Royals have won four straight home games and five of their last seven division games.

Prediction:

The Royals have been playing well, but they are going with Montgomery, who gave up five runs in two innings at Cleveland in his last outing. Plutko threw seven innings of 1-run ball against the Royals last week and has a 1.64 ERA over two starts against KC this year. With both teams playing well, I am going to side with the Indians, who have the better hitting and the better pitching.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -140
