Tigers bounce back

After dropping the first game of the series on Tuesday, 3-2, Detroit bounced back with a 3-2 win of its own on Wednesday. Detroit is 25-39 on the season, 14-18 on the road and 34-26 with the under. Matthew Boyd gets the start for the Tigers today. He is 5-4 on the season with a 3.08 ERA.

The Tigers managed a run in the eighth to get the win on Wednesday. They had just five hits, but a sac fly from Brandon Dixon in the eighth got them the win. Two of the three runs came on sacrifice flies. Dixon, Miguel Cabrera and Ronny Rodriguez each drove in a run. Daniel Norris started the game and pitched five innings, allowing two runs. The Tigers pen pitched four innings of scoreless ball. Nick Ramirez got his third win in relief while Shane Greene recorded his 20th save of the year.

Royals fall again

The Royals were unable to get a win streak started in the loss on Wednesday. They have dropped eight of their last 10. KC is 21-46 on the season, 13-23 at home and 32-31 with the over. Kansas City has Homer Bailey getting the start today. He is 4-6 on the season with a 5.90 ERA.

Danny Duffy had a solid start, pitching seven innings while allowing just two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Jake Diekman took the loss by allowing the winning run in the eighth. He is now 0-3 on the season. Jorge Soler drove in both KC runs in the loss, as he had two hits. Adalberto Mondesi also had a pair of hits.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers are just 6-21 in their last 27 games against a right-handed starts, but just 5-2 in Boyd’s last seven starts on five days of rest.

Kansas City

The Royals are 3-10 in their last 13 home games and 2-7 in their last nine division games.

Prediction:

Boyd is having a pretty good season for the Tigers, taking minimal damage in his bad outings, while consistently getting a good six innings of work in. Bailey has allowed three runs or more in four of his last five starts and the Royals are just 1-4 in his last five starts. I think the Tigers have the better starter today and that is who I will go with. Both offenses have been struggling this series and I like the Detroit pitching better in this outing.

MLB Prediction: Detroit Tigers -125
