Tigers win a pair

Detroit has struggled through most of May, but they are coming off back-to-back wins in Baltimore earlier in the week. The Tigers are 21-32 on the season, 12-15 on the road and 30-20 with the under. Spencer Turnbull gets the start for Detroit today. He is 2-4 on the season with a 2.97 ERA.

The Tigers have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league this season, averaging just 3.41 runs per game while hitting .225 at the plate. On the mound, Detroit has a 4.76 team ERA and a 1.37 team WHIP. Nicholas Castellanos is leading the team with 18 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 20 RBI. Miguel Cabrera is adding eight doubles, two homers and 22 RBI.

Braves fall to Nats

Atlanta has suffered a pair of back-to-back losses at home to Washington coming into this weekend. The Braves are 30-26 on the season, 14-14 at home and 27-26 with the over. Atlanta has Mike Foltynewicz on the mound today. He is 1-3 on the season with a 5.67 ERA.

The Braves are putting up 4.86 runs per game this season while hitting .258 at the plate. On the mound, Atlanta has a 4.28 team ERA and a 1.36 team WHIP. Dansby Swanson is leading the team with 10 home runs and 35 RBI while Freddie Freeman has put up 13 doubles, 13 home runs and 32 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers are just 7-20 in their last 27 interleague road games and 3-12 in their last 15 games overall.

Atlanta

The Braves have won five of their last six following a loss, but they have lost six straight following a day off.

Prediction:

Turnbull has been pretty good for Detroit this season, but like most Tigers pitchers, he isn’t getting much for run supports. His numbers have started to decline recently as well, so he could be letting the losing get to him. Foltynewicz is going in the other direction. He has allowed just two runs over his last 12 innings and seems to be taking shape. I think he will have another solid outing against this poor Detroit lineup and Turnbull will be left without run support yet again.

MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -165
