Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers, the Angels are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -160 to win. The Royals are listed with a money line of +145 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 9 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 72 percent going on the Angels as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Royals drop fourth straight

Kansas City has lost the first two games of the series by three runs each and have now dropped four straight and six of their last seven. KC is 15-31 on the season, 5-16 on the road and 24-19 with the over. The Royals have Danny Duffy toeing the rubber today. He has a 2-1 record with a 3.97 ERA.

The Royals stranded six runners in Saturday’s loss. Whit Merrifield was the only one that could come through with a big hit, as he had two doubles and drove in two runs in the loss. Jake Junis took the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits, but still managed to pitch seven innings. He falls to 3-5 on the season.

Angels look for sweep

Los Angeles has won the first two games of the series and is looking to complete a series sweep today. The Angels are now 22-23 on the season, 13-9 at home and 24-18 with the under. L.A. has Tyler Skaggs taking the mound today. He is 4-3 on the season with a 5.05 ERA.

Griffin Canning got the win for the Angels on Saturday. He pitched the first seven innings and didn’t allow a run, striking out five and giving up just three hits. He improves to 2-1 on the season. Ty Buttrey earned his second save by recording the final five outs. At the plate, the Angels had five extra-base hits. Mike Trout hit his 10th home run while Shohei Ohtani hit is second home run and drove in two runs.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are just 5-23 in their last 28 Sunday games and 20-54 in their last 74 road games.

Los Angeles

The Angels are 6-2 in their last eight home games, but just 3-9 in their last 12 games against a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

Skaggs has been shaky in his last two starts, giving up 12 runs over 9.2 innings. He has also struggled with walks. Despite that, he did pitch five scoreless innings at Kansas City earlier in the season. Duffy hasn’t been terrible, but he has been giving up runs and doesn’t get deep into games. While he could compete against the Angels, I don’t think he will get the run support he needs to get the win.

MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -160
