Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Khris Davis hit a pair of solo homers in a loss to the Mariners in extra innings on Monday. Davis gave the A's a 3-1 lead with a solo shot off of Yusei Kikuchi in the sixth, and two innings later, he extended that lead to 4-1 with a blast off of Austin Adams. Unfortunately for Davis and the Athletics, Oakland blew their 10th save of the season in the loss. The slugger now has 12 homers, and the pair of hits up his average to .243 on the season. The .247 dream is very much alive and well.
Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
Dan Vogelbach hit a three-run homer and walked twice in the Mariners' extra-innings win over the Athletics on Monday. Vogelbach obliterated a fastball that couldn't have been placed on a tee better by Joakim Soria -- better for Vogelbach, that is -- with two runners on to give Vogelbach his 10th homer of the year and tie the game at 4-4. The average has taken a big hit as of late for the burly slugger -- he's hitting just .248 -- but the ability to get on (.394) and hit for power (.587) are still there; although that was the first homer for Vogelbach since April 20. He's worth trying to acquire in on-base leagues, for sure, and there just might be enough offensive value in standard leagues to make him worth a roster spot.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The total has gone over in eight of the A’s last nine games when playing the Mariners.
Seattle
The over is a perfect 5-for-5 in the Mariners’ last five home games.
Prediction:
Tonight’s game between these two teams should also feature plenty of runs. Seattle starter Mike Leake currently owns a 4.61 xFIP on the year and is giving up hard contact at a rate of 42.5%. He’s not a strikeout pitcher and the A’s hitters do an excellent of getting lift when they do put the ball in play. T-Mobile is a pitcher’s park but with Leake set to face Brett Anderson (5.06 xFIP, 11.5% strikeout rate, 39.1% hard-hit rate) tonight, I favor both offenses. These two teams combined for 11 runs last night and I could see them coming close to matchup that total again tonight.
