Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers, the Rays are the clear favorite at home, as Tampa is getting odds of -200 to win. Arizona is listed with a money line of +185 to win, while the over/under total is listed at 7.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 62 percent going on the Rays at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Arizona ends win streak

The Diamondbacks had their four-game win streak come to an end on Sunday when they suffered an 8-7 loss at Colorado. Arizona is 20-14 overall, 13-7 on the road and 18-14 with the over. Merrill Kelly takes the mound for Arizona tonight. He is 3-2 on the season with a 3.60 ERA.

Arizona has been one of the better offensive teams in baseball, averaging 5.50 runs per game this season while hitting .267 as a team. When it comes to pitching, the Diamondbacks have a 4.24 team ERA and a 1.30 team WHIP. The D’Backs have three hitters with over 20 RBI this season. Ketel Marte is leading the way with nine home runs and 26 RBI while David Peralta has five homers and 24 RBI with a .312 batting average.

Rays return home

Tampa wrapped up an 8-game road trip on Saturday with a 3-0 loss at Baltimore. The Rays were 5-3 during the road stand. Tampa is now 21-12 on the season, 9-7 at home and 19-13 with the under. The Rays have Blake Snell on the mound tonight. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.31 ERA.

The Rays have the league’s top pitching staff, as they rank first in team ERA at 2.99 and second in team WHIP at 1.08. When it comes to hitting, Tampa is averaging 4.52 runs per game while hitting .252 as a squad. Brandon Lowe is leading the team with a .309 average, seven home runs and 19 RBI while Yandy Diaz has seven home runs and 18 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 6-1 in their last seven road games and 9-2 in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record.

Tampa

The Rays are 5-2 in their last seven interleague home games and 48-21 in their last 69 home games.

Prediction:

Snell was pitching quite well until his last outing, when he gave up seven runs in three innings to the Royals. Tampa has actually lost his last three starts. While the Rays have a great staff, they don’t produce a lot of runs and that could be a problem against Arizona. The Diamondbacks can hit the ball and Kelly has done his job of keeping the team in every game. I think the Rays are far too big of a favorite for a game against a team the caliber of Arizona. I will take the Diamondbacks for the upset tonight.

MLB Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks +185
