Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Pedro Strop took a loss Sunday afternoon against the Rangers. Strop was brought into the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied 10-10 and he served up a leadoff double to Joey Gallo before throwing a wild pitch that allowed Gallo to score. Strop is the Cubs' primary closer at the moment, but he'll have to pitch better in order to hold the job. Brandon Morrow (elbow) is expected back sometime in early May.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Josh Donaldson collected his first hit as a member of the Braves in a losing effort against the Phillies on Sunday night. Donaldson singled and eventually scampered home on a wild pitch in the third inning to provide the Braves' lone run in the ballgame. He finished the night 1-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. It has been a rough start for the former American League MVP, slashing a putrid .091/.167/.091 with no RBI and four strikeouts through his first 12 plate appearances.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 37-18 in their last 55 games when facing opponents from the National League East.
Atlanta
The Braves have dropped four of Newcomb’s last five home starts.
Prediction:
The Cubs shift from Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas to SunTrust Park in Atlanta and even though their bats were hot over the weekend, I see their offense cooling off. The under is 11-4-1 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta and has cashed in 18 of the previous 25 meetings between these two teams overall. The under is also 5-1 in Kyle Hendricks’ last six road starts and is 35-16 in his last 51 outings overall.
The Pick: Cubs/Braves under 8
