Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, stolen base and a run scored in the Red Sox' loss to the Mariners on Saturday. Devers reached base safely in three of his five plate appearances and swiped his first base of the season in the third inning. He also came around to score on a base-hit by slugger J.D. Martinez later in the frame. The 22-year-old third baseman appears to be locked into the third spot in the Red Sox lineup, which should be a tremendous boost to his fantasy value this year. It's too early to draw any conclusions, but he hasn't looked overmatched, hitting .333/.429/.417 through three games.
Seattle Mariners Fantasy Spin
Jay Bruce went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, a walk and a pair of runs scored in the Mariners' 6-5 win over the Red Sox on Saturday. Bruce tattooed a line-drive, three-run homer -- his first round-tripper in a Mariners' uniform -- off Red Sox’ starter Eduardo Rodriguez in the fifth inning. The 31-year-old veteran outfielder has gotten off to a slow start, but should be a mainstay in the heart of the Seattle lineup. He's eclipsed the 30-homer mark in five of the last eight seasons and has an excellent shot at doing so again this year if his health cooperates.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox have won seven of Rick Porcello’s last nine starts and are 9-4 in his last 13 road outings.
Seattle
The Mariners have been profitable when Wade LeBlanc toes the rubber, winning 22 of his last 32 starts overall.
Prediction:
The Red Sox have not received good pitching in this series, with the first three starters combing to allow 22 hits and 18 earned runs over 12 1/3 innings. Porcello is coming off an incredible season but Edwin Encarnacion is 13-for-43 with five doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs versus the Boston starter. Plus, with Seattle 16-4 in LeBlanc’s last 20 home starts, the M’s are worth a flier.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners +125
