Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Bryse Wilson, Kyle Wright and Max Fried have made the Braves' rotation. Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) will begin the season on the injured list and it appears that Kevin Gausman (shoulder) will, as well, creating openings for the aforementioned trio. Wilson and Wright will start the second and third games of the season in Philadelphia, respectively, while Fried is set up to start the sixth game.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Nick Pivetta surrendered three runs in five-plus innings and struck out eight Wednesday against the Tigers. It was one run through five, but Pivetta allowed two straight to reach to begin the sixth before being pulled and both runners came around to score. Pivetta's eight strikeouts today were two more than he totaled over 11 1/3 innings in his first three starts.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves have now lost five straight road games dating back to last season.
Philadelphia
The Phillies have lost five straight games in which Pivetta starts.
Prediction:
As you read in the betting trends section, the Phillies have not been profitable in Pivetta’s starts. That said, he’s a popular breakout candidate this season after he improved his strikeout rate from 2017 and lowered his walk rate in the process. He will give up the long ball but he should also receive plenty of run support this afternoon. Wilson has a bright future in Atlanta, but this is a tough first assignment for the youngster. Set to face Bryce Harper, Andrew McCutchen, Rhys Hoskins and Jean Segura in a hitter’s park, I’m going to fade Wilson and the Braves today.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -148
