Z. Johnson wins BMW Championship
LAKE FOREST, IL (TheSpread) – Zach Johnson needed a strong final round to win the BMW Championship on Monday, and he got it, winning the tournament by two shots.
Johnson posted a 6-under 65 on Monday to finish the tournament -16 overall, two shots better than Nick Watney, who posted a 64 on Monday to finish at -14 overall. Jim Furyk, who led entering the final round, came in third by shooting a 71 on Monday, which put him at -13 overall.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Johnson had 40/1 odds to win this tournament, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $4,000.
The win for Johnson was his first of the year and propels him into fourth in the FedEx Cup standings with one event remaining. Johnson is 509 points behind Tiger Woods for first. Woods finished in a tie for 11th overall at -9 after shooting a 71 on Monday.
