Spurs edged by Nuggets

The Spurs suffered a 102-99 loss at Denver last night, but were a 4.5-point underdog. San Antonio has covered the spread in five of its last six and eight of its last 10 games. The Spurs are 19-17 on the season, 5-12 on the road, 20-15-1 against the spread and 19-16-1 with the over.

San Antonio is averaging 110.9 points per game on offense this season while shooting a league-best 39.7 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Spurs are giving up just 109.1 points per game. The Spurs are being led by DeMar DeRozan, who averages 23.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 19.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.

Clippers best the Lakers

Los Angeles picked up a “road” win over the Lakers last night, 118-107 thanks to a second-half rally. The Clippers have won four of their last five and covered the spread in five straight. Los Angeles is now 21-14 on the season, 12-4 at home, 21-14 against the spread and 22-13 with the over.

The Clippers are strong offensively, averaging 116 points per contest this year. The team shoots 47.5 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Clip Show is giving up 114.5 points per game. Tobias Harris is leading the team with 21.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest while Danilo Gallinari is adding 19.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio

The Spurs are 7-1-1 against the spread in their last nine conference games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.

Los Angeles

The Clippers have covered the spread in 11 of their last 15 home games and in four of their last five Saturday contests.

Prediction:

Both of these teams have been playing well as of late, but I feel the Clippers have proven themselves to be more consistent, especially at home. The home team has won five straight between these two, including both meetings this season. The Spurs had to travel overnight and that should impact their legs as the game moves on. I think the Clippers will have too much offense for them to deal with.

NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers -3.5
