Nets keep rolling

The Nets are coming off a 134-132 OT win over Charlotte at home on Wednesday for their ninth win in 10 games. They are also 8-2 against the spread in that stretch. The Nets are 17-19 overall, 8-8 on the road, 19-17 against the spread and 18-18 with the over/under total.

Brooklyn is now putting up 111.2 points per game on offense while shooting 36.3 percent from the 3-point line. Defensively, the Nets are giving up 111.6 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.1 percent. The Nets have overcome some injuries this year thanks to the play of guards Spencer Dinwiddie and D’Angelo Russell. Dinwiddie averages 18.1 points and 5.3 assists per game while Russell adds 17.5 points and 6.2 assists per contest.

Hornets suffer back-to-back road losses

The Hornets are coming off the loss to the Nets on Wednesday and suffered a 119-103 loss at Boston on Sunday. Charlotte is just 1-6 against the spread in its last seven games. The Hornets are 16-17 on the season, 12-7 at home, 17-16 against the spread and 18-15 with the over.

Charlotte is putting up 113.4 points per game on offense this season while shooting nearly 36 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Hornets are giving up 111.5 points per game. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 25.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game while Jeremy Lamb adds 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Nets are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games and 22-7 ATS in their last 29 against Southeast Division opponents.

The Hornets are 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six conference games.

When will the jug be up for Brooklyn? It doesn’t seem possible that the Nets can keep winning with this roster, but the team has really come together and is playing with a chip on its shoulder. That can be a great motivator. The Hornets are mostly reliable on Walker, which is understandable. However, if he isn’t getting the points, Charlotte is in trouble. The Nets don’t have that issue, as they have a lot of balance. The Hornets also don’t have a dominant post man to take advantage of the Nets in the paint, so I think Brooklyn continues to play well and picks up the cover, and possibly another upset win.

NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets +4.5
