Spurs flip-flopping

San Antonio has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games. The Spurs are coming off a 145-115 win at Memphis on Monday night. They have covered in three of their last four games. The Spurs are 12-17 on the season, 4-9 on the road, 9-19-1 against the spread and 18-11 with the over.

The Spurs are putting up 113 points per game this season while shooting 47 percent as a team. Defensively, San Antonio is giving up 115.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.6 percent against them. DeMar DeRozan is leading the Spurs with 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest.

Mavs hope to get Doncic back

Dallas has alternated wins and losses over its last eight games and the Mavericks are coming off a 110-107 loss at Toronto on Sunday. Dallas is now 19-10 on the season, 8-7 at home, 17-12 against the spread and 19-10 with the over.

The Mavericks are putting up 117.2 points per game this season on offense while shooting 46.3 percent as a team. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 108.9 points per game while opponents shoot 44.1 percent against them. The team has been without Luka Doncic in recent games due to an ankle injury. However, he did practice yesterday and is questionable to play tonight. Doncic averages 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for Dallas.

NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio

The Spurs are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games as a road underdog and 4-18 ATS in their last 22 games following a win.

The Mavericks are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as a home favorite.

Dallas picked up a 117-110 win over the Spurs back on Nov. 18 at home. Certainly you need to keep an eye on the Doncic situation. If he plays, the spread is likely to grow. With him on the floor, it’s easy to like the Mavs. Dallas is much more explosive on the floor with him in the lineup. However, even without him, Dallas has played pretty well. The Mavs have road wins over the Bucks and 76ers while playing very competitively with Toronto, Boston and Miami. The Spurs are an unpredictable team, as they show flashes of greatness and flashes of awfulness. Going on the road, I think the Spurs are going to be flat. If Doncic returns, I expect him to give the Mavs a nice lift and really push them to a lopsided win.

NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -6.5
