Grizzlies on a slide

Memphis has dropped five straight games coming into tonight, failing to score 100 in any of them. They have also failed to cover in all five games. The Grizzlies are 16-16 on the season 7-10 on the road, 16-16 against the spread and 19-13 with the under.

The Grizz haven’t been great on offense almost all season, averaging just 101.8 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor. They are also one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, averaging under 40 per game. Defensively, Memphis gives up only 102.2 points per game. Mike Conley has been leading the team with 20.6 points and 6.5 assists per game while Marc Gasol is adding 16.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest.

Lakers hoping to heat up

After playing six of seven on the road, the Lakers get a bit of a home stretch. It started on Friday with a 112-104 win over the Pelicans. Los Angeles is now 19-13 on the season, 12-4 at home, 13-18-1 against the spread and 19-12-1 with the under.

Los Angeles is putting up 113.2 points per game this season while shooting 47.7 percent from the field. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 111.4 points per game while allowing 45 percent shooting. JaVale McGee has been battling the flu and is questionable to play tonight. LeBron James is leading the team with 27.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while Kyle Kuzma is adding 18.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis

The Grizzlies are 7-18 against the spread in their last 25 Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five against Pacific Division opponents.

Los Angeles

The Lakers are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six home games, but 0-4-1 ATS in their last five following a win.

Prediction:

Memphis is a team that tries to slow the game down to a halt, but I don’t think LeBron and company will allow that to happen at home. The Lakers have been very strong at Staples Center and I think they will be able to push a pace that will be too great for the Grizzlies to handle. The Lakers blew out the Grizzlies in Memphis just a few weeks ago, 111-88. I could see something similar today.

NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers -5.5
