NBA Predictions: Will 76ers end skid, get revenge at Raptors? 12/23/17

Can the Philadelphia 76ers end their four-game losing skid this evening when they play at the Toronto Raptors? Game time is 5PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the aptors are a 6-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 217 points.

Philadelphia enters with a 14-17 overall record and 16-14-1 ATS after a 114-109 home loss to the Raptors, its fourth straight defeat. Toronto is 22-8 overall and 18-12 ATS following the victory over the Sixers. The Raptors are 2-0 straight up and 2-0 ATS in two meetings this season. Toronto is 5-1 straight up and 4-2 ATS in six meetings since the start of last season. The over is 5-1.

The 76ers were led by Ben Simmons with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists in the loss to the Raptors. Robert Covington contributed 19 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Dario Saric filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, 10 boards and nine assists. Philadelphia was outscored 62-44 in the second half.

DeMar DeRozan poured in a career-best 45 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the in at Philly. Kyle Lowry registered 23 points, nine boards, four assists and three rebounds. Serge Ibaka put in 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Delon Wright added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists off the bench. Toronto shot only 35-of-85 from the floor, but connected on 32-of-35 at the free throw line to secure the win.

Philadelphia is 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings. The over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings. 

Bet on 76ers vs. Raptors

The big question is whether Sixers center Joel Embiid will return to the lineup. Philadelphia is only 1-7 without him in the lineup this season. When he is absent, the 76ers are without not only their best scorer but also best rim protector and rebounder. I wouldn't be opposed to betting on the Sixers here if he is in the lineup, but right now I'm going with the streaking Raptors. They just beat the 76ers by five in Philly, so playing the contest on their home court where they are 11-1 straight up this season seems like a good spot to bet on with a reasonable spread.
