Clippers fall to Houston

Los Angeles saw a double-digit lead get erased in the second half of its game with the Houston Rockets on Thursday night. The Clippers have lost two of their last three. Los Angeles is 21-9 on the season, 7-7 on the road, 17-13 against the spread and 17-13 with the under.

The Clippers are putting up 115.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46 percent as a team. Defensively, Los Angeles is giving up 108.2 points per game while holding opponents to just 42.9 percent shooting. Kawhi Leonard is averaging 25.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game to lead the Clippers. Paul George is adding 25.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.

Spurs can’t find consistency

San Antonio is coming off a 118-105 win over the Nets on Thursday, but the Spurs are just 5-5 over their last 10 games coming into tonight. San Antonio is 11-16 on the season, 8-7 at home, 8-18-1 against the spread and 16-11 with the over.

The Spurs are putting up 115 points per game this season while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. Defensively, San Antonio is giving up 112 points per game while holding opponents to 46.3 percent shooting. DeMar DeRozan is leading the team with 20.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge is adding 18.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Clippers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss.

San Antonio

The Spurs are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games as a home underdog, but just 6-17 ATS in their last 23 home games.

Prediction:

The Spurs earned a 107-97 win at home over the Clippers on Nov. 29, while the Clippers got a six-point win at home on Halloween night. You’d think Leonard would be pretty motivated to play against his former team and at his former venue, but he has lost the two games in San Antonio since leaving the Spurs. Over the three meetings as a whole, he has struggled shooting. Certainly the Spurs know as well as anyone what he can do and how to best defend him. I think the Spurs being at home and getting a handful of points should help them cover tonight. The Clippers have struggled on the road as a team and Leonard hasn’t had a lot of success at San Antonio.

NBA Prediction: San Antonio Spurs +5.5
